FOR SPORT
Sport is where we’ve spent our careers.
We’ve led state and national sporting organisations, sat around their board tables and worked with clubs on the ground. Now we help national, state and local sport with the decisions that shape the next decade.
WHERE WE HELP
The work sport brings to us.
Every sport is different, but some pieces of work come up again and again.
-
Shared benefits and services, shared resources, unified strategies, common purpose and outcomes, national–state agreements and federated models: who does what, how decisions are made, and how members and staff move across.
-
Governance reviews, constitution reform, board skills and director recruitment, and a clear working relationship between the board, CEO and members.
-
A long-term ambition for your sport, to 2032 and well beyond, that your next strategic plan can build on.
Strategic plans that turn into action, and enabling plans that can adapt as things change.
-
Workforce and capability planning, inclusion, and participation strategies that reach the whole community.
Volunteer planning, coach development, inclusion and the culture that helps people stay.
-
Inclusion strategies, women’s and community participation, accessible programs.
-
Membership models, member engagement and growth, partnerships and new revenue. When a sport grows faster than its structure: roles, staffing, decision rights, programs and the systems that support them.
Focused on member value, platforms and data, and the experience that makes people renew.
-
National programs, membership and digital platforms, and the data and reporting a modern sport runs on.
-
Grant strategy, events and commercial partners.
-
Sustainability plans and committee capability.
EXPERIENCE FROM INSIDE SPORT
Work we’ve led ourselves.
AusCycling
Shane co-led the integration of 18 national and state cycling bodies into one national organisation: governance, constitution, people, members and systems brought together.
Queensland Active Industry Workforce Plan 2024–2034
Fiona was a key contributor to the state’s workforce plan for sport and active recreation, a PLA National Awards finalist in 2025.
An executive career within sport
As CEO of Mountain Bike Australia, Shane grew membership revenue by more than 63%. He also led BMX Australia, was inaugural acting joint CEO of AusCycling, and started his career at Volleyball ACT and Basketball Canberra.
Bowls Australia, Paddle Queensland
Fiona led national diversity and inclusion programs for Bowls Australia, was Executive Officer of Paddle Queensland, and has worked on club development with more than 100 clubs.
HOW WE WORK WITH SPORT
From club to national body.
Not sure where to start? A Health Check or a facilitated board day is a low-risk first step.
Club Committee Reset
A facilitated half-day for club committees: roles, priorities, governance basics and the first 90 days. Often run for several clubs together through a state body or councils.
State Body Governance Review
Interviews, documents and a board assessment, ending in a clear, prioritised action plan for your board.
Reform and long-term strategy
Unification, constitution reform, a new operating model or a long-term ambition, with experienced support throughout.
Executive Partner
Ongoing, independent support for the chair and CEO while changes are put in place, so the plan doesn’t sit on a shelf.
2032 is closer than most strategic plans reach.
Most sport strategic plans look three to five years ahead. Beyond the Strategic Plan is a board and executive workshop on the longer horizon: what your sport may need to become over the next 10–20 years, and which decisions today will shape it.
CLUBS AND REGIONS
Support for clubs, many at a time.
Club Committee Reset program
The Club Committee Reset, run for several clubs together through a state body, league or council.
Future Ready Regions
Helping 8–15 clubs across a region grow with their changing communities. We’re looking for pilot regions.
Engage Leaders Forum
An independently chaired peer group for club presidents and committee leaders.
QUESTIONS WE’RE OFTEN ASKED
Before you get in touch.
-
Both. Some of our most useful work is with small national and state bodies that have a big agenda and a small team.
-
Yes. We support your people rather than replace them, and we’re careful to leave the capability with you.
-
We keep recommendations practical and prioritised, and we can stay on to help put them in place.
-
Yes. Working across federated structures, and helping them work as one, is familiar ground for us.
-
No. Between us we’ve worked across cycling, bowls, paddle, basketball, volleyball, hockey, outdoor recreation and the wider active industry.
-
Often, yes. Programs for clubs are usually delivered through a state body, league, academy or council.
Personally involved.
Together we bring experience and skills in governance, structure, strategy and transformation, people, workforce, inclusion, members and growth. Many sport projects use both of us.
